No-No’s of Cloth Diaper Care
•Bleach may break down the material and in turn shorten the life of your diaper. If your baby has sensitive skin it could also cause a rash.
•Fabric softeners, (DO NOT USE DREFT, IVORY SNOW, OR DRYER SHEETS) these products will leave a coating (wax) which will affect the absorbency of the diaper.
•Don't leave poop in your diapers for several days, it will break down the material.
•Detergents with enzymes. Avoid using detergents which list enzymes or whitening enzymes in their ingredients (like Fabricare: Arm and Hammer Advanced Detergent Action). The enzymes stay in the diapers even after washing, and reactivate when your baby potties in the diaper – or even if they spill liquid onto the diaper, which could cause a really awful diaper rash.
•Boiling diapers with snaps. The high heat may melt the snaps!
